Pilton Moor Riding Stables can offer a variety of livery options to suit your needs.  Just call our friendly family-run yard for an informal chat and pricing options.  We have over 40 years’ experience of running a yard and handling everything from racehorses to trekking ponies – our well-mannered happy horses and ponies are evidence of our commitment to not only their welfare but also that of their riders.

Our facilities include post and rail paddocks offering unlimited turnout, field shelters, integral barn-type stabling with rubber matting and outdoor all-weather manège.  We also have a regular qualified riding instructor who offers lessons.  We place great importance on yard safety and endeavour to maintain a safe, happy, and healthy environment for our horses.

Thank you for the most perfect holiday. The equine facilities were spot on, lovely big stables all within a barn, feed room and secure tack room and a lovely school. Everything worked and was well thought out which made it a pure joy to indulge in our precious time with our horses. They loved their 2 acre paddock and did their best to eat as much as possible. Martin and Jo were so incredibly helpful, showing us the best rides and filling us in on all the local information. We stayed in the Shepherds Hut which was clean, comfortable and so warm with the wood burner alight. There is the most amazing riding and the beaches are awesome. This really was a fantastic holiday and we would love to return. Couldn’t recommend it more highly. Congratulations Martin and Jo you are superstars.

We can cater not only for the experienced competitive rider but also have the knowledge, experience and patience to help novice riders and first-time horse owners gain confidence and the correct skills.  We also offer a committed and loving retirement home for your old equine friends.  We have escorts available for those who prefer not to ride alone.

Please note that small paddocks are available for laminitic ponies.

A barked area with double field shelter is available.  This safe post and railed turnout area is a fantastic facility for ponies prone to mud fever in winter and laminitic ponies in Spring/Summer.  Can be used in rotation to suit specific requirements.

We ensure that our land is kept in the best possible condition by regularly poo picking with our paddock cleaner, harrowing, rolling and spraying annually. Our land management skills make sure that your horse is kept as safe as possible.

The riding available from our stables is unrivalled.  With no necessary roadwork should you prefer, our yard opens straight onto National Trust land and easy well-maintained bridle-paths. Miles of open moorland offer safe canter tracks and fantastic views of the sea and the famous Worms Head from the highest point on Gower.  We have the choice of three easily accessible golden sandy beaches; Rhossili/LlangennithPort Eynon/Horton or Oxwich where you can choose to gallop across the open stretches or play in the surf – just have a look at our fantastic photos.

We’re also pleased to offer a communal kitchen in the yard, with kettle, hob, microwave and sink which is suitable for making basic meals, hot drinks and washing up. Please note that you will need to supply your own crockery and cutlery.

We have just returned from our first ever horsey holiday with our two very special ex racehorses who are 17 and 19yrs. All I can say is why didn’t We do it sooner….. Pilton Moor was amazing from the moment we arrived. We were greated by Jo who showed us around and once the horses were settled in their stables even took us out in her car and drove us around showing us the various horse friendly routes. We stayed in the Cwtch shepherds hut with breakfast which arrived in a wicker basket both mornings with cereal, milk, cereal bars, fruit and pain au chocolates. The view was amazing over the horse paddock and was a 1 minute walk to the horses stables and toilets facilities. The horses were stabled due to the current wet weather. They were in a big barn which they occupied two large and airy stables and had it all to themselves. There’s a tack room and feed room for your use. We purchased lovely bales of straw from the farm and took our own hay. We rode up over Rhosilli Downs the first evening which had beautiful views of Worms Head and the bay. It was accessed off the farm with little road work. The second day we rode to Oxwich Bay on the route Jo had shown us. Well it was amazing and everything we could have wished for and more. We even stopped for a cheeky half at the Oxwich Bay hotel. When we got back the horses were bathed and had a roll in the school before they went to chill in the stables. We caught the local bus to the King Arther hotel which runs every hour ish and cost us £5 return and had some lovely food and a pint. Everyone at Pilton Moor were so friendly and helpful. Our horses were more settled than they are at home which enabled us to have a great time. Thank you guys we will be back next year for sure. Sam & Windy, Debbie & Arf.

All of our livery facilities and knowledge are also available to our horse B&Brs – many of whom return year after year for an enjoyable relaxing break.  We are more than happy to do as much or as little as you want us to do for your horse, so that you can make the most of your holiday.

We will happily find suitable accommodation for you in one of the many nearby hotels or B&Bs – just tell us what you are looking for.  However, you may like to consider staying in one of our Shepherd’s Huts on a bed only basis. It is a unique experience which is proving very popular with or guests. We also have ample space for lorry-parking for those looking for a low-cost break.

The yard offers shower and toilet facilities and the use of the communal kitchen area for hot drinks and a basic meal after a long ride!  Please note that you will need to supply your own crockery and cutlery.
We also offer escorted rides of the local routes, with the opportunity to stop in the local pub along the way!

Well behaved dogs are welcome and there are plenty of activities to occupy the non-horsey members of your family and friends.
